Hi All,
We have been presented with a crossroad and we're looking to the community to give us feedback on this.
The poll is simple. Do you think this is a good idea or no?
As it stands right now, 1.09 is ready for Final Release; however, Shutter Glasses and VR920 are currently not functional.
We would like to release the driver minus the Shutter Glasses and VR920 features. They will be removed.
After the driver is released, we will be putting up a beta driver that is similar to the one you are testing now. The difference will only be that the "Trial Period" for VR920 and Shutter Glasses will be extended to 90 days.
This will give us time to continue working on these features and get another beta driver out to you.

Everybody is waiting for Shutter support in 1.09. Shutter support is like "the" most important event we've had this year in consumer S-3D.
I also think it would be better to only have one stable and one beta version at a time, not two parallel betas.
I'd rather see shutter modes either : included in stable v1.09 with a big warning sign "shutter is beta" and add the word "(beta)" next to the shutter modes in the output method list.
Or put the shutter features in 1.10beta and publish it at the same time as the stable v1.09 (don't keep it for later)

I know a lot o people want your driver for 3rd party hardware (hell, I have a lot of it shelved myself), but as a 22" IZ3D monitor owner, I suggest that we deserve stable drivers as quickly as they are available.

Well, I understand everyone wants support from iZ3D for their 3rd party devices. And I understand iZ3D is pushing that to earn some money by selling those drivers.
But lately it seems to me like it was the main focus to have support for all those other devices. Nearly every new forum posts is about a 3rd party device and people 'demanding' support as fast as possible. I understand people are going crazy about it because they finally see their devices supported.
But the thing is here are some owners of iZ3D monitors who paid good money already. And if there is a Beta that is stable enough to be released I don't understand why the people that actually own the hardware, the driver originally was for, should have to wait for a release.
There is also a lot of stuff we are waiting for to be taken care of for the iZ3D monitor itself, like DX10 support and the new architechture (which was said to hopefully not interfere with punkbuster) or as Yuri said "3ds max support".
I am not pushing for that because I see that the iZ3D Team is really busy with what they do right now and I know they are doing their best.
But I have to admit I get kind of frustrated when I see some people here really demanding stuff for their competitive products.
There are a lot of people on the forum helping iZ3D as testers for 3rd party devices and pointing to bugs and so on. That's well appreciated and great help for the overall driver development. I didn't mean those helpful people, so no offense meant.
Overall I am very pleased with the work of iZ3D and the community here, I just wanted to catch up on the remark 'Inrrgb' has made and support it.
I guess you guys are working on DX10 support and the new architecture besides all this 3rd party support, right?
keep up the good work and release the driver, it's not like you would stop working on the Beta, right. It simply will have a new number
Hope I didn't hurt someones feelings, didn't mean to!

If I could get my old E-Dimensional 3D glasses to work in page flipping mode rather than interlaced mode, I would want to purchase your new driver. I would be willing to pay good money too. Interlaced works fine, but page flipping mode does not as the left/right eye view switches back and forth every once in a while. Sometimes it switches back and forth way too rapidly. I take it that this has to do with your shutter marking mechanisms not working. I hope you guys can figure that out soon.

VR920 support is functional, with the hotfix. I'd be prepared to buy it and use it in its present form. It crashes on some games, but works on most, provided you don't try to change resolution in-game. I think you can include the VR920 hotfix in the release version. I had lots of fun hours of stereoscopic gaming on my VR920 today, using the iZ3D drivers.
I don't know how much the other devices are directly competing. I can't rush out and buy an iZ3D monitor, because it won't plug in to my laptop. Also it would be hard to strap it to my head so I could look around, and I don't think it comes with head-tracking. It is a different kind of device, with a different market.
On the other hand, they can still make money out of me, because I plan to buy their driver.
iZ3D owners can use a beta just like everyone else can. They are not being left out. The iZ3D support in the driver will be improved rather than harmed by supporting extra devices, since it means more people can spot bugs in the driver, and more people can test obscure games, and more money for driver development.
SteveEsco: Just use interlaced, and stop whinging. There are technical reasons why page-flipping is pretty much impossible. Be grateful that it works without page-flipping, some systems don't.

I vote release the driver. So far all the games I've tested on my DLP TV work great. I hate it for the folks that use shutter glasses and VR920, but why punish everyone who has a working solution or an IZ3D monitor.
Not to mention you will get money coming in from people like me who want to buy the driver, which I'm sure you can use.

If beta4 is the final release then I vote NO. each successive release is worse and worse for Unreal Tournament 2k4. Soooo many maps lock up (you are shown as entered the game to other online players, you can hear the game but screen stays black) that I went back to 1.08, it was better for my main game. If anyone cares there are more folks playing UT2k4 right now that UT3!

We use UT2k4 as our main demo that we show everyone, we also test it a lot at the USA office, and have not since increased issues. Which maps are having the lockup problem with 1.09? _________________ -Charlie Rosenberg
